Animal Referral & Emergency Network Website Redesign
In collaboration with key business stakeholders and clinical teams, I spearheaded the end-to-end website redesign for the Animal Referral & Emergency Network (AREN), consolidating 20 specialist and emergency veterinary hospitals across Australia into a single, cohesive parent network. The project encompassed internal audits, user research across three core user groups (distressed pet parents, referring vets, and job seekers), restructuring complex information architecture, and establishing a modern UI design system. I designed a mobile-first experience featuring sticky auto-location detection for emergency care and adaptive, pre-filled referral workflows for veterinary professionals. Through iterative usability benchmarking on staged prototypes, the redesigned platform drastically reduced the average time to find the nearest emergency hospital from 68.7 seconds to 7.2 seconds, and cut referral submission times in half, delivering critical speed and clarity during high-stress pet emergencies.
